GreatArt host Goddard & Gibbs Exhibitionists in their original home

Description

Did you know the GreatArt store used to be one of the UK’s largest stained & decorative glass studios? 41-49 Kingsland Road was once the home of Goddard & Gibbs, founded in 1868, who carried out prestigious glass work for commissions all over the UK and internationally.

To celebrate their long history we will be hosting an exhibition in their original premises, our store, from 16th November 2017 to 4th January 2018. We will be showcasing new work from 7 of their artists, and also presenting the commissions, history and memories of their staff from the years they spent working within the walls of the present GreatArt store.

The artists: Zoe Angle, Chris Madlin, Laura Perry, Caroline Swash ATD FMGP, Louise Watson MA (RCA), Sophie Lister-Hussain and Sharon McMullin, most of whom trained, and all of whom worked, within the studio at 41-49 Kingsland Road.

We will also celebrate the history of our building and the many works created within its walls by their skilled artists.
