Culture and Art in London, on a tight budget.

| Culture | 01/03/2012

Welcome to What’s On London, where you can find places to go and enjoy yourself in and around London. Whether you live in London already or are just coming here for the first time, this is the place where you can find all the local activities and events that are taking place.

So enough about what the site is all about, let’s get into some events spotting. As you may or may not know, London is home to many events such as Theatre, Art, Fashion and Music but it can be a little expensive if you are working on a tight budget. So to get started we have picked out a few non-mainstream events for you to choose from.

The Southbank centre (located in Central London) holds many art exhibitions and performances throughout the year. Some come at a small booking price whereas others are absolutely free. From Music to Art and Dance, the Southbank Centre is the largest single running arts centre in London. Take a look at their website for the latest events.

Address: Belvedere Road, London, SE1 8XX Switchboard: +44 (0)20 7960 4200

For people who enjoy spending a cultural night out on the town but don’t like to break the bank, the Tate Britain may be the place for you to spend the odd Friday night. A new monthly late night show (cleverly called ‘Late at Tate Britain’) is being held every first Friday of the month. On these nights you can find some gallery art, live performances and discussions to expand your cultural palette. With a range of restaurants surrounding the venue as well you could always finish the night of with some food and drink.

Speaking of food, if you happen to get hungry during the day there are loads of places that you could visit for a change of scenery; Covent Garden, Soho, Angel and Notting Hill to name a few.  If you are a meat eater, you might enjoy a visit to the Rodizio Rico grill. For just £23.50, you can eat all the meat you want! They have over 24 choices to choose from served with rice or salad – whichever you prefer. As the Brazilian origin restaurant says: “All you need is a healthy appetite.”

Address: They have branches in Fulham, Westboure Grove, Islington and at the O2.

So there you have it. A few venues for you to go out and enjoy.
