Get fit while having fun at a sporting event in London

As we get closer to the summer period, it’s time to get ready to go out and enjoy a bit of the town. It’s always nice to get out and go for a meal or watch something, but why not get fit at the same time? We’ve found a few ideas that will get you having fun and getting fit for a small (or no) fee.

Innocent Fruit Sports Day

Taking place Sunday 22nd July is Innocent’s very first Fruit Sports Day. The fruit smoothie company that was established in 1999 are to celebrate being named as the official smoothie and juice of the London 2012 Olympics. The Fruits Sports Day will be held in London’s regents Park and tickets will be available to purchase from May 8th.

On the day you will be treated to music from the London Afrobeat Collective, Hollie Cook, Charlotte Reed and the very own Innocent band. Fresh and tasty food will be available for you to try out and not forgetting the sports! Join in on the Lemon and Spoon race, Runner Bean Relay and Fruit bowling.

Fit for adults and families, you can also get involved in the other events that will take place that include Zumba and Pilates. The event will commence at 11am and come to an end by 7pm.

Address – Regents Park, London, NW1 4RU
Nearest Underground Station – Regents Park

Sunwalk London

Fancy getting fit and giving back to charity at the same time? The SunWalk London 2012 is one way way you can do just that. Held in Battersea Park July 1st, the SunWalk is in association with the walkthewalk charity, uniting against breast cancer. The sponsored walk is organised in order to help raise funds for the battle against breast cancer.

The SunWalk acts as the daytime equivalent to the popular Moonwalk night time marathon held in May every year. You can register as a walker, support other participants on the trail or even join in on the day just for the fun of it. The event site will be open to the general public during the event.

Adding a small treat for families who decide to join in on the fun will be Peppa Pig and her brother George, cheering children on the way through the route. Other popular children’s TV characters are also set to make appearances. To keep the energy going, music and other live entertainment will fill the park throughout the day.

All participants are invited to wear brightly decorated bras for the occasion to add more of a fun factor. The theme for this year’s walk is “Tropical theme” so think sun, sea, sand, pineapples and palm trees!

Address – Battersea Park – Albert Bridge Road, Battersea, London, SW11 4NJ

London Friday Night Skate

Own a pair of roller blades? Join fellow skaters from all around the world for London Friday night skate every Friday evening (8pm). With most of the meeting points starting in West London, the track gives skaters some beautiful views (as long as you can stop and brake to see them!). The Friday night skate contains a few hills and slopes so if you’re not too good on your skates don’t be too hasty!

“So is Friday the only night I could try and skate” you may ask? No, not at all. If you prefer a slower stroll over the weekends, join the Easy Peasy Roller Stoll in Battersea Park. Make sure you are up bright and early as the free group skate starts at 10:30am. The skate takes place on every dry Saturday by the Japanese Peace Pagoda.

For those who want to take a chance on skating on Sundays, you have the Roller Stroll. Taking place at 2pm from the east side of Serpentine Road, the route usually lasts 6-8 miles and is open to skaters who can stop effectively on skates.

Skating takes place between the areas of Hyde Park and Green Park and change each week. Visit the website and sign up to the official London skating newsletter for updates on meeting points.

Head down to one of our choices and join in on the fun.
