The Diner Food

The Diner is an chain of American-style 50’s restaurants dotted around the capital.

The Food…

Looking at the menu, there were an interesting array of drinks on offer. Milkshakes, root beers, sodas, they were definitely authentically American. I ordered the Orchard Pig Cider and I’m sure this tasted like bacon, or maybe I drank too much…

I decided on ordering the Californian Burger (£6.50) with Monterrey jack cheese and Guacamole – you can customise your burger too for an extra charge. Having had this many times before, of course I would order it again! The burgers on offer are delicious and most importantly fresh!

The Chilli cheese fries were perfect, not too hot or spicy, perfect for sharing! The chilli cheese fries in MEATliquor are a spicy alternative if you’re feeling adventurous. The mash is also delicious, thick and creamy and a generous portion size. I always find that it is better to order loads of sides and share them with friends instead of having your own dishes.

Feeling as though we had room for dessert, my friend and I decided to share the banana pancakes, under the assumption that they were small. However, we were proved wrong, they were HUGE! Tasty, but huge. We ended up taking home the rest in a doggy bag.

The atmosphere in The Diner is great. They play some great tunes! Maybe the cider had gone to my head, but I remember humming along to the best songs of the 80s at one point. Being a regular to The Diner, I can definitely recommend it. A niche alternative to TGI Fridays and Garfunkels, The Diner offers good American food at great prices.
